abandoned

down a windy road, not far from my house, is this old abandoned stone house and its little spring house. they're amazing, especially in the summer when the woods are like a jungle. a small creek runs directly in front of the ruins, meeting up with the Delaware river down the hill. next time i'll have to explore a little closer and see if there are any leftover treasures waiting to be found in there :)

a lot of rust = a lot of cool

i just listed this awesome rusty doll head mold in the shop, it's seriously the coolest thing i 've found in a long time. it's just the front of the head mold, but obviously the most important piece (if it was the back of her head i wouldn't be all that excited.) i searched and searched for something similar online to compare it to, but there's nothing to be found. i think she's pretty special. she's happily hanging on my wall right now, as seen above. the funny thing is that i'm not a doll person at all, they usually creep me out. so you think this would definitely creep me out. but she has good vibes.

fun new finds

came across this old medicine/display cabinet this weekend. it looks like it once had either glass, or a mirror on the front. i've repurposed it as a display shelf, but it also functions wonderfully when i put it flat on the table and use it as a crate-type organizer. it's almost like a pretty wooden crate, but with shelves and a "door." it can also hang on the wall with two little hooks. i love the peeled white paint." if i can part with it, it should be listed in the shop shortly, along with a few more treasures.

wood horse makes public debut

(NEWS) - 7-22-09 (polkadot press) Wood Horse Makes Public Debut

wood horse was added to Etsy's 'equestrian' gift guide, he's happy to make his debut on the front page and get some extra (much deserved) attention from his public. he's usually found grazing in an open bookshelf, enjoying a little sunshine from the window. he's a very low maintenance kind of equine.

'new' old stuff added

a bunch of 'new' old treasures were added over the weekend, one of my favorites is this old milk crate. it's perfectly rustic and makes the coolest storage or display box. our antique seed drawer wound up on the front page yesterday, in good company. i've had a few inquiries into the bird book that's displayed in this drawer - it's not for sale (as of now), but i am on the lookout for another. it will be tough to find though, it's a pretty rare title from the early 50's. more treasures to be listed throughout the week!...

new old stuff is coming

During our recent trip to an antique festival, I found this awesome green box. It was once painted blue, so the robin's egg color peeks through the green perfectly. I also found this antique produce tin. Right now they're hanging out on my table looking good together.

We're planning to add new items to the shop later tonight & Saturday! Updates include a set of large wire bins that are perfect for storage, a rustic beverage crate, and some glass and ceramic items. I recently unearthed an adorable cast metal poodle charm that is a bronzey gold color - I put it on a simple 14k chain and voila! - an adorable necklace.

summer's official

4th of July has already come and gone. The weather was perfect! Walked around town and enjoyed festivities near Washington Crossing, where Washington made his famous trip across the Delaware. Bald eagles were flying above the mountains a little farther north - can't beat that on July 4th. Now if the weather could be like this every weekend...
