deep freeze/warm dreams

it's still snowing. the snow is deep. the wind is blowing. there's some sunshine peeking through towards sunset. this is the kind of winter where you want to wrap up in the warmest blanket and stay indoors. but when i do venture out, these are the kinds of items i've been dreaming about wearing. i've never been a fan of the giant puffy down jackets or waterproof boots...until this winter. now they're all i want!

currently loving...

not your grandma's doily...well, maybe not, though she may have made them. these vintage doily's (aka doilies) are just too cute. combined with weathered old wood and rustic industrial items, they add the perfect touch of pretty. and there are zillions of different styles out there to choose from [click the photo to enlarge]. that's why polkadotHOME is currently loving doilies.

welcome february! we're getting ready for HUGE shop updates throughout the month. just a few of the goods to be added include an assortment of fabulous mirrored vanity trays, handmade original artwork and ceramics, glass apothocary jars, nature books, a handknit granny square afghan, and even a few wonderful vintage belt buckles. new arrivals should start this weekend!

packing away christmas

it's always sad when it's time to put away the cheery christmas decorations, but it's nice to make way for a clean new year slate. here are a few of my favorite christmas corners before they are packed away.

it's still freezing. they claim that next week will be the january thaw - temps will rise into the balmy high-30s and low 40s for a few days. but at least we have sunshine to keep us company on most winter days.
