a cloudy day

autumn is on its way, it's cloudy, misty and cool here today. the kind of day where you need to turn all the lamps on in the middle of the day. speaking of lamps, i discovered a pair of sweet hobnail milk glass lamps that match a pair of vintage ruffle lampshades that we found last weekend. they look too cute together, very Anthropologie cottage. i'm still debating on how/if to list them in the shop. it's always tough to find a good lamp.

things to love: vanity mirrors

love this etsy article. love every featured item. love the interior photos that show organized chaos, in a good Anthropologie-ish way. love that our vanity mirror is featured, that's always a plus! although the featured mirror already sold there is another mirror listed. this one is pretty special: it's rusty, and it has faint golden age spots on the glass. it really is one of a kind, afterall, nothings ages exactly the same. love it showing off a bouquet of fresh hydrangeas from my mom's garden in NY.

discoveries

traveling around NY this weekend we came across an antique store in a basement of an old brick building. down rickety wooden stairs was a discovery that was amazing. a hundred old wooden crates, many with their original paper labels or vibrant painted graphics. all in great condition. they ranged from enbalming fluid crates to battery crates, to fruit, coffee and livestock feed. they also ranged from $100 and up..., yes, they were pretty cool.

there will be a small shop update tonight, with a really pretty mirrored vanity tray and a few other new 'old' finds. cool stuff...

sunshine + heat = a/c + shop update

this weekend was crazy hot, the perfect time to hang out in the a/c and list a few new items. even the flowers were happier in the a/c. the blue bench is finally listed, it's quite adorable in person. and so useful, i'll miss it if it moves! the sweet white medicine cabinet is also being offered, along with a few other finds. more to come throughout the week!...

this bag is beyond adorable! i'm very glad that i bought it - it's so unique and the quality is fabulous. Lotte at squirrellicious makes other bags that are similarly adorable, check them out. she's a fellow animal-lover, and it shows. who could resist this precious goat?!?

cottage style with a twist

well, i'll miss them but the globe bookends are off to their new home, thanks in part to being featured in this fabulous article on cottage style. such great style! i LOVE the porch!

i always combine shiny industrial pieces with old wooden pieces, and this pretty silver photo/ornament holder has the nicest design - i can picture it holding special holiday ornaments on a mantle or desk. it's like a modern silver christmas tree!

i found out the sweet old pickle jar was on the front page yesterday, and after i saw this collection i wanted to show a photo of it - it's so pretty! i love these selections - the fact that it's really nature-based woodland treasures mixed with other pretties. after speaking to a few etsians about this jar, i started to think that it's not just for a kitchen. it would look so nice on a bookshelf holding a birdnest, or leaves, pinecones, etc. instead of a traditional vase or cloche. i particularly love the birdnest idea, since i have a wren nest that's now adandoned, and i'm thinking of keeping the nest when i clean the bird house this fall.
